About Lost Decades

In essence, a lost decade is a burst bubble. When a historic boom ends — and they always end — the bust takes most people by surprise.

Few investors are prepared for a slump in the economy and wounded investor psychology that can span twenty years or more.

In fact, some investors sell their stocks in disgust and buy bonds. Others obey the buy-and-hold religion and wonder why they’re not making any money.

Trouble is, when investors wait decades for results and only to discover they barely broke even, it’s too late to do anything about it.

In other words, when stock markets fail to perform, retirement plans fail to deliver. The result is bitter disappointment.

My goal is pretty simple: provide a convenient place to follow the lost decade we’re in right now, so investors can deal with it head on, save the day, and come out a hero.
